Teach Us to Pray – Praying Through the Lord’s Prayer

Luke 11:1 It happened that while Jesus was praying in a certain place, after He finished, one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray just as John also taught his disciples. 2. And He said unto them, “When you pray, say…..

Matthew 6:9 Pray, then, in this way: Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.

I dreamed I was in the prayer room. It was like Shiloh, but not quite Shiloh. I was sitting praying what is called The Lord’s prayer in the prayer room with just a few people in the room (It’s actually the Disciples Prayer). All the sudden the prayer room began to fill up, I turned to ask certain ones if they wanted to do worship, and before they could respond and go up, all these worship leaders began stepping up to sing and worship the Lord in a rotation. I turned, and saw our worship leader heading up to fix the microphones as I also went to help adjust the microphones so the worship leaders could be heard that was suddenly coming to lead worship.

As I was leaving the building, the building was full of people standing worshiping. And as I looked back there was a full band of African-Americans singers and musicians that were standing behind their microphones/stands set up at the back of the church, facing the platform. They looked like they were ready to sing but the backs up of the people were facing the front also, so no one saw them. I walk to my left heading out the door facing them, and motioned to one of the singers on the microphones to take down their stands and equipment.  He motioned for me to get out of the way, not knowing what I was saying, nor who I was.  I went forcefully towards him, as he cowered down, I whispered something in his ear.  We then went to the back board that had the schedule on it as I was telling them that they can only set up to sing up front on the platform, not in the back.

What stands out most about this dream is how God began to fill the room with worshipers and singers, until the room was completely full. It was as I was praying through The Lord’s Prayer that the room began to fill.  I believe this is a key revealed in the dream as a way God wants to build His house of prayer – Systematic Meditative Prayer through the LORD’S (DISCIPLES PRAYER).

God wants to build us up in our prayer life. And he wants to teach us how to pray. This is the only thing the disciples asked Jesus to teach them to do……Lord Teach Us to Pray.  This prayer teaching is a template of entrance into God’s mind, for how He accesses our hearts to release His will into the earth, and how WE access His heaven to bring heaven to earth.  This prayer template is broken up into 7 DIMENSIONS IN PRAYER, ACCESSING 3 REALMS OF the Heavenly realm, the Kingdom of God realm, and the Earthly realm.

  1. Our Father in Heaven – The Heavenly realm of the Father’s dimension in prayer
  2. Hallowed Be thy Name – The Heavenly realm of the Son’s dimension in prayer
  3. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done– The Kingdom realm of the Holy Spirit’s dimension in prayer
  4. Give us this day our daily Bread – The Earthly realm of the Word of God’s dimension in prayer
  5. Forgive us our Debts, as we forgive our Debtors– The Earthly realm of Man’s dimension in prayer
  6. Lead us not into temptation deliver us from…The Kingdom realm of the deliverance dimension in prayer
  7. For yours is the Kingdom Power and Glory – The Heavenly realm of the Worship dimension in prayer

Notice the phrases of the 7 dimensions in prayer in Matt 6:10-14 begin with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost (thy kingdom come – the Kingdom of God is….in the Holy Ghost. Ro 14:17), then it goes on to the word of God (Give us this day our daily Bread), then onto Man (forgive us our debts), and on to the deliverance dimension (deliver us from evil) and culminating in the Worship dimension in prayer (for thine is the Kingdom the power and the glory).

The first realm of access is the heavenly realm, accessed through the Father’s dimension in prayer. Jesus said, When you pray, sayOur father which are in Heaven. This level deals with the aspect of heavenly access into the realm of the spirit.  Prayer is a spiritual activity where we access the spirit realm.  The spirit world is accessed by words. John 6:63 says, The Words I speak, they are Spirit and they are life.  The spirit world is accessed by words, this why Jesus said; when you pray, say…. Entering the spirit world or the heavenly realm requires praying and saying. Prayer is communication with God.  Words are how we communicate in the earth realm.  So, to connect the earthly realm with the heavenly, and the heavenly realm with the earthly realm requires Praying and Saying. And He said unto them, “When you pray, say…Luke 11:2

1Co 14:13 Wherefore let him that speaks in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.

1Co 14:14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful

1Co 14:15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

In the dream, I was sitting in the chair, and I was saying phrases from the first through the seventh realms of the Father’s dimension of prayer through the deliverance and worship dimensions of prayer, after each phrase I would begin praying in tongues……As I would pray in tongues, after saying each phrase I began getting revelation of the phrase I was saying. For example: The first phrase is; “Our Father which are in Heaven.” Then as I began praying in tongues I began getting a revelation of the Father’s heart, as well as a revelation of Heaven, and what’s going on in heaven around the throne.

The Father dimension is the doorway into the heavens, or the spirit realm. Our father’s in the earth are supposed to connect us to our Father in heaven. A father establishes our revelation of God the father. This fatherhood dimension in prayer is a revelation of what the father looks like, acts like and how the father trains you for heavenly access.

As I was saying and praying; Our father which is in heaven, I began getting a revelation of Father God. As well as my role as a father, responsible for leading disciples into a relationship with father God. I also began being healed of father wounds and things that I didn’t get from my earthly father, that hindered me in my relationship with father God. In that very moment God began giving me the responsibilities of an earthly father that prepares us to receive from God in prayer. This training for heavenly access can be seen in the context of the text of the teaching of the prayer he taught His disciples to pray.

The very first verse of Matt 6:1 speaks of the necessary practice to enter the fatherhood dimension in prayer to access heaven or the spirit realm. This necessary practice is the practice of focusing on righteousness that God sees and not righteousness that men see.

A Father Establishes Our Revelation of Righteousness. Your righteousness is a practice that comes from God and is for God.  It is a practice done before God for the reward that only God can give, and it is characteristic of having a father.

Matt 6:1 says, beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in Heaven.

Pro 13:22 A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the righteous.

Righteousness is a practice of the father releasing his name, his character, his inheritance to his children, not based on their good works, or their behavior, but based on their relationship with him as sons and daughters. The righteousness of God is the identity of the believer in Christ before God, in the eyes of God, because of Jesus Christ. The righteousness of God is how God sees every person, both unbelievers and believers alike, in Jesus Christ…..Excerpts from my upcoming book, “When you Pray…Say!”
